Guitarist Hilton Valentine dies

Hilton Valentine (77), the guitarist of the popular British band The Animals, is no more. He died on Friday local time. Hilton Valentine formed The Animals band in 1963 with singer Eric Burdon, Chas Chandler, keyboardist Alan Price and drummer John Steel.

The Animals record label ABKCO Music has called Valentine a pioneer among guitarists, saying he has influenced the world of rock and roll for decades.

In tribute to Hilton, his fellow singer Eric Burdon wrote on social media handle, "You didn't just play the guitar, you found life in it! I am saddened by the news of Hilton's departure. We had an exciting time together. From the North Shield (Hilton's birthplace) around the world ... Rock in Peace."
