Hiroshima and Nagasaki Day today

International desk
Today marks the 76th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, Japan. Like every year, various events are being held in memory of those killed in the Second World War in Hiroshima.

At 8:15 a.m. local time, the traditional bell was rung to commemorate the moment of the bombing. The crowd paid their respects to the victims through a minute of silence. Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga paid tribute. However, due to the pandemic, the number of guests is less.

The atomic bomb dropped by the United States in 1945 killed 1.5 million people instantly. The effects of radioactivity are still being felt by many today. The Prime Minister promised to protect their health. At the same time, he made a strong demand to stop the use of nuclear weapons worldwide.
