Today is March 26, the 52nd great independence day and national day of the country. In the early hours of March 26, 1971, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman called upon the Bengali people against invading forces to resist them and to continue fighting till the final victory was achieved.

After 9 months of the bloody liberation war, Bangladesh gained independence.

Bangladeshis from all over the world including Bangladesh will celebrate the day. Due to the global Corona pandemic, Independence Day has been celebrated on a limited scale. This year, more or less the situation is under control. So this time there will be more spontaneity in the celebration of Independence Day.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave a separate message on the occasion of Independence and National Day.

In his message, President Abdul Hamid said that in order to achieve the desired goal of independence, development, good governance, social justice, transparency, and accountability must be ensured. He wished and congratulated all Bangladeshis in the country and abroad on the occasion of Independence Day.

The President said the present government is making relentless efforts to establish Bangabandhu's dream. To institutionalize democracy, tolerance, human rights and the rule of law must be worked together.

In her Independence Day message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that Bangladesh would soon emerge as a developed and prosperous state on the world map if the trend of development continues.

The Prime Minister extended greetings and congratulations to all Bangladeshis living at home and abroad. She also thanked all the countries, organizations, institutions, and individuals for being by side during the liberation war.

According to BSS, detailed programs have been taken at the national level to celebrate the great Independence and National Day with due dignity. This day will be celebrated all over the country. As soon as the sun rises, wreaths will be laid at the Savar National Memorial to pay homage to the heroic freedom fighters who were martyred in the war of liberation. On this day, the national flag will be hoisted in all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private buildings.

It added, on the occasion of Independence Day, the President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will lay a wreath at the National Memorial in Savar.

On the occasion of Independence Day, various programs have been taken by various political parties and organizations, socio-cultural organizations, and institutions.
