Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar will arrive in Dhaka next Thursday, a diplomatic source said. It is learned that S. Jaishankar will formally bring an invitation letter from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Delhi.

The Prime Minister's visit to Delhi could be in the second or third week of June.

It is learned that S. Jaishankar will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during his stay in Dhaka and will hold bilateral meetings with Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen. Abdul Momen will host a dinner in honor of Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar.

At the invitation of Sheikh Hasina, Modi paid a state visit to Bangladesh on March 26-27, 2021 to attend the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence, the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

At the invitation of the President Abdul Hamid, President of India Ram Nath Covind paid a state visit to Bangladesh from December 15 to 16 last year to attend the 50th Victory Day celebrations as the guest of honor. This was the first visit of an Indian President to Bangladesh and his first foreign visit since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

In an effort to make Dhaka-Delhi relations more dynamic, the two neighboring countries are currently planning to increase engagement, including preparations for Sheikh Hasina's visit to India this year, officials said.
