Heavy rain and landslides in India, dead 112

Maharashtra, India, devastated by severe floods. Heavy rains and landslides have killed 112 people in the state, leaving many missing.

Record rainfall in decades has hit the west coast of Maharashtra. The region has received up to 600 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. Millions of people are stranded. Thousands of residents have been evacuated from the risky areas. The army has joined the rescue operation. Landslides have been reported in several areas due to continuous rains. At least 38 people have been killed in a landslide in a Mumbai village. 32 houses have been destroyed in Raigad district.

Bridges and roads were destroyed and many villages were cut off. The river level in Karnataka and Telangana has also crossed the danger line. Experts say the effects of climate change are causing unprecedented rainfall in India.
