1 Killed, 4 Injured in the Storm
An old man named Shishu Mia, 65 died after a tree fell into an autorickshaw in Muradnagar Upazila of Cumilla. Four more people were injured. The condition of three of them is critical.
The accident took place at 7 am on Wednesday, April 20 at Shalfa village of Srikail union under Bangra Bazar police station.
Shishu Mia is the son of the late Naib Ali of Khoshghar village in the Bangra police station area. The injured were autorickshaw driver Sabuj, passengers Nargis Akhter, Fatema Begum and Hasan. Sabuj's house is in the Sarerpar area of Ramchandrapur Union. Others live in Companiganj and Nabinagar areas.
Local UP member Jahangir Alam said five people, including the driver, were going to Srikail from Ramchandrapur in an autorickshaw around 8 am. At that time, a tree was uprooted by a storm in the Shalfa area and fell on the autorickshaw. Locals rescued the injured and took them to Muradnagar Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty there declared the baby Mia dead. Three people have been sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. An injured person is admitted there.
