Janmashtami
Today is Lord Krishna's birthday. According to the followers of traditional religions, about five and a half thousand years ago, in the Dwapar era, on the eighth day of Krishnapaksha in the month of Bhadra, Lord Krishna of Mahabata appeared in Dharadham. Traditional religions believe that Krishna was God Himself. He appeared on earth as a human being to establish peace and justice on earth by suppressing evil.

The Hindu community will observe various rituals including Janmashtami fasting, worship and namakirtan. Besides, the day will be observed with due formality through religious solemnity.

Various religious, social and cultural organizations have taken various programs on this occasion. Like every year, on the occasion of Janmashtami celebrations, the Mahanagar Sarvajanin Puja Committee and Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad have taken various programs centrally. Ceremonies have been organized at various temples including Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission.

On this occasion, President Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given a separate message. In the message, they conveyed sincere greetings and congratulations to the followers of traditional religions living in the country and abroad.

Leaders of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad and Mahanagar Sarvajanin Puja Committee greeted people of all walks of life on the occasion of Janmashtami.
