Nine judges of the High Court took oath

The nine judges have been sworn in as permanent judges in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain administered the oath of office to nine permanent judges at the Judges Lounge of the Supreme Court at 11 am on Tuesday. The judge's wife and children were present at the Judge Lounge at the time.

Nine judges were given permanent appointments after serving two years as additional judges on Monday. The law ministry has issued a notification in this regard by the order of the President.

The permanent judges are- Justice Muhammad Mahbub-ul Islam, Justice Shahid Nuruddin, Justice Md. Zakir Hossain, Justice Akhtaruzzaman, Justice Mahmud Hasan Talukder, Justice Kazi Ibadat Hossain, Justice KM Zahid Sarwar, Justice AKM Zahirul Haque and Justice Kazi Jinat Haque.

Earlier, on October 20, 2019, the government appointed these nine as additional judges. The next day, on October 21, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain administered the oath of office to them at the Judges Lounge of the Supreme Court.
