Khaleda's release has been extended another six months

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia's release has been extended for another six months. However, at this time she will not be able to go abroad.

The order was issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday, March 15 in the afternoon.

Earlier, on March 08, Law Minister Anisul Huq gave an opinion to suspend Khaleda's sentence for six months following an application from her family.

On September 24 last year, the government suspended Khaleda Zia's sentence for six months in the second phase by an executive order, which will end on March 24. On March 02, the family made several demands and applied to the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Khaleda Zia, who was convicted in the Zia Orphanage Trust and Charitable Trust corruption case, was suspended and released on conditional release for six months by an executive order on March 25 last year.

The conditions include: Khaleda Zia will not be able to take part in any political activities and will not be able to meet anyone except family members. She will receive treatment from her home and will not be able to leave the country.
