Two killed in clashes over dominance in Kishoreganj

Two people have been killed in a clash between two groups in Tarail upazila of Kishoreganj. Three others were injured in the incident. The clash took place in front of Dubail Bill in Digdair Union of the upazila around 6pm on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Shafiqul Islam, 35, and Abdur Rashid, 70, a former member of the local Union Parishad (UP).

According to police and local sources, the people of Sadek Vender of Digdair Paschimpara village were in dispute with the people of Moti Mia's party over the dominance of Dubail Bill Jalmahal. Due to this, the two sides clashed with domestic weapons at around 6 pm on Monday.

Shafiqul Islam was seriously injured. He was rushed to Tarail Upazila Health Complex where he was pronounced dead at around 8pm. Later, police recovered Abdur Rashid's body from a crop field in the area around 11pm.

Besides, three of the injured have been admitted to Tarail Upazila Health Complex.

Tarail police officer in charge (OC) said. Mujibur Rahman said that after receiving the news, the police went to the spot and brought the situation under control. No arrests have been made so far in the incident.
