lighter ship sank off
A lighter ship sank off the Bhasanchar coast of Noakhali in the Bay of Bengal, leaving 12 people missing. The Bangladesh Navy is trying to rescue them.

On Saturday, April 16 at around 12:45 pm, Coast Guard media officer Lt. Commander Abdur Rahman confirmed the matter.

He said the ship sank at a place called Gangnirchar, 12 nautical miles from Bhasanchar in Noakhali.

However, it is not known exactly when it sank. A navy ship has begun work to rescue the missing on board. A Coast Guard ship also arrived near the scene. Rescue operations are being hampered due to excessive rolling.
