Hand grenade blast in Madaripur

A house was destroyed in a hand grenade blast in Madaripur. Several people were injured at the time. Two of them have been sent to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College in critical condition.

The incident took place at around 1 am on Monday, October 4 at the house of Mannan Mollah, a UP member of Ward no. 8 of Sidikhan Union in Kalkini Upazila. The seriously injured are Yamin Bepari, 38, son of Nurai Bepari of Mathabhanga village in Sidikhan union, and Sumon Sikder, 26, son of Maujali Sikder of Dakshinkandi village.

According to locals, some youths were making hand grenades in an abandoned house of Mannan Mollah, a UP member of Ward No. 6 of Sidikhan Union. The incident took place at around 1 am. The house was destroyed. Several people were injured at the time. Two of them were admitted to Kalkini Upazila Health Complex. When the condition deteriorated, both of them were sent to Barisal Medical College.

According to locals, the grenade was being made to dominate the area ahead of the forthcoming Union Parishad elections. However, no comment has been received from the police yet.
