Digital Security Act case against Mayor Atiqul dismissed

A court has dismissed a case against Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam under the Digital Security Act.

Earlier, A man named Md. Abdur Rahim filed the case under Section 25/29 of the Digital Security Act-2018 at the Dhaka Cyber ​​Tribunal on Tuesday.

Later, Judge As-Shams Jaglul Hossain dismissed the case in an order after taking the statement of the plaintiff.

The lawsuit alleges that Mayor Atiqul was accused of occupying the plaintiff's property, publishing offensive, false, intimidating, and defamatory information about the plaintiff and his family in various media through digital devices. Although a legal notice was sent by the plaintiff on September 12, the defendant did not reply.

The plaintiff also applied for an arrest warrant.
