'Work on mega projects is going on with 100% transparency'

Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said the government was working on mega projects with 100% transparency. I want to make it clear that we are completing the construction process with 100% transparency and honesty.

Obaidul Quader said this while inaugurating the construction work of Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway on Saturday morning.

At the time, the minister said, the construction work of the 24 km long project will be completed in June 2026 at a cost of around Tk. 17,000 crore. The construction of the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway will be completed on time avoiding the suffering of the people.

The Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway is a 24 km long four-lane project from the capital's airport to Dhaka EPZ. The elevated expressway will end at Savar EPZ via Uttara, Abdullahpur, Dhur, Bara Ashulia, Jirabo, and Bypile.

While inaugurating the construction work of the project, the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges said that the construction of the expressway will cost Tk. 16,901 crores. Of this, the Bangladesh government will give about six thousand crores taka. The remaining 11 thousand crores will be financed by the Exim Bank of China. The bridge minister hoped that the contractor for the project, China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation, would complete the construction work in time.

Obaidul Quader said, "The work of this project will be completed in June 2026. The project is being implemented on the basis of a G2G agreement with the funding partner, the Chinese government."

At the same time, the bridge minister said, the Padma Bridge will be inaugurated in June next year. The Karnafuli Tunnel and Metro Rail will also be launched in the same year.

Obaidul Quader urged the concerned people to complete the construction work of the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway in time to avoid suffering.
