Clash between two sides of AL in Meherpur

A bomb blast took place in Gangni upazila of Meherpur in a clash between two sides of the local Awami League. The clash took place between Union Parishad (UP) chairman Golam Faruk and district Chhatra League vice-president Rakibul Islam Tutul's supporters around 9 am on Saturday, April 24. Four people from both sides were injured in the clashes on Saturday, April 24 in the morning.

UP Chairman Golam Farooq joined the Awami League from the BNP a few days before the UP elections.

According to local eyewitness, tensions between the two sides have been simmering for some time over the dominance of the area.

As a result, people from both sides clashed on Saturday morning. There were five consecutive bomb blasts. Four people on both sides were injured in the clash. Two of them with serious injuries have been admitted to Gangni Upazila Health Complex.

Gangni Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bazlur Rahman said police had been sent to the spot. The situation is under the control of the police.
