Another arrested on charges of involvement in Muhibullah murder

The Armed Police Battalion (APBN) has said it has arrested another man in connection with the killing of Rohingya leader Muhibullah. The man was arrested from Ukhiya's Lambasia camp in Cox's Bazar on Friday night.

According to APBN, the arrested person is involved in terrorist activities called Arakan Salvation Army (ARSA), an armed group in Myanmar.

However, the name of the person arrested by APBN has not been revealed yet. 14 APBN captain and superintendent of police Naimul Haque confirmed the matter.

Meanwhile, APBN's Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Azad Mia visited the Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar on Friday.

He said those who were directly involved in Muhibullah murder have been identified. One person has been arrested on charges of involvement in the killings on Friday night. Earlier, five more people were arrested for using the names of Arsa and al-Yakin in the camp.

According to the police, Muhibullah was shot dead by miscreants at Lambasia shelter in Ukhiya on the night of September 29. He was the chairman of the Arakan Rohingya Society for Peace and Human Rights (ARSPH).

On September 30, the day after the incident, Muhibullah's younger brother Habibullah filed a murder case against the unidentified terrorists at the Ukhiya police station.

Ukhiya police have remanded five people arrested in the Muhibullah murder case. Among the arrested persons, Mohammad Elias has also given a confessional statement under section 164 in the Cox's Bazar court.
