1 killed, 10 injured in Munshiganj road accident

One person was killed and 10 others were injured in a road accident at Munshiganj's Srinagar. The accident happened when the bus was pushed from behind to the covered van loaded with cement.

Passenger Ripon Mia, 22, died on the spot in the Bejgaon area around 8 am on Thursday.

The injured are Nupur Rani (31), Shivshankar (30), Miraj (30), Imran (25), Dulal (27), Rakib Faraji (20), and Milton (32). They are undergoing treatment at Srinagar Upazila Health Complex.

The other three have been treated locally. Most of the injured are from the Pirojpur district.

According to eyewitnesses and Srinagar Fire Service sources, the Meghla Paribahan bus which left Dhaka in the morning was going to Shimulia Ghat.

When the bus reached the Bejgaon area around 8 am, the driver lost control.

At this time, the bus pushed hard from behind to the loaded covered van, the front part of the bus gets twisted.

Ripon, a bus passenger, was killed on the spot. Another 10 passengers were injured.

The Officer-in-charge (OC) of Hasara Highway Police Station Afzal Hossain said the injured were rescued and sent to a hospital. The body of the deceased and the bus involved in the accident are in police custody.
