Myanmar's national unity government has said it will adopt new tactics to put pressure on its military rulers. Acting president of the shadow government, Duwa Lashi La, outlined the new plan in a speech on Tuesday, Reuters reported.

According to the new strategy, the unity government has declared a "state of emergency".

At this time, the armed forces (militia) made up of civilians and the forces of the local ethnic groups will put pressure on the junta government through their activities, as well as call for the resignation of bureaucrats.

Myanmar's February military coup has led to the formation of a national unity government with disguised leaders of other junta opposition parties, including ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi's NLD.

The military junta agreed to a ceasefire in ASEAN just before the opposition announced a new strategy to put pressure on the military government.

ASEAN has called for a ceasefire to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the country. The ceasefire is expected to be implemented by the end of this year.

ASEAN has been trying to stop the violence in Myanmar since the military coup. Hundreds of people have died in violence in the country since the junta came to power.
