Hacked to death in Mymensingh, youth arrested

It has been alleged that an old man named Manoranjan Sangma (65) was killed by an ax in Tarakanda Upazila of Mymensingh. The murder took place in Dhakua Paschimpara village of the Upazila on Sunday evening.

A 20-year-old man named Shimul Chambugang was arrested in the incident, police said.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tarakanda Police Station Abul Khair confirmed the matter.

The deceased has been identified as Manoranjan Sangma, a retired BGB member.

OC said Manoranjan Sangma was sitting on the verandah of his house on Sunday evening.

At that time a young man named Shimul Chambugang hit Manoranjan in the chest with an ax and he was killed. Later, the locals arrested Shimul in a drunken state and handed him over to the police.

Meanwhile, the body was recovered and sent to the Mymensingh Medical College morgue for autopsy. The OC also said that a case was being filed in connection with the murder.
