Lebanon's new prime minister is Najib Mikati

The Lebanese parliament has nominated Sunni leader and billionaire Najib Mikati as prime minister. Of the 118 lawmakers, 72 supported him. Conditions: The government must be formed within the stipulated time. Otherwise he will be constitutionally removed.

In the meantime, he said he would hold talks with political parties irrespective of religion or group. Earlier, Najib Mikati was the Prime Minister for two more terms.

Saad Hariri resigned in 2019 in the face of massive anti-government protests across the country. He was nominated for the PM's job this year. Hariri was ousted after failing to form a government within 8 months.
