Teenager shot dead in a clash between two sides in Narsingdi

Clashes between the two sides over domination in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi. A teenager named Yasin (12) was shot dead at that time. At least 10 people were injured, including three who were shot. The incident took place at Kacharikandi village of the upazila on Monday, May 17 in the evening.

The three people shot were Rubel, Bahak and Sagar. They have been admitted to different hospitals.

Confirming the incident, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Raipura Police Station Dev Dulal Dey said there was a long-running dispute between the supporters of Shah Alam member and Fazlu member of Kacharikandi village in Paratali union of the upazila over domination of the area. Due to this, the two sides got involved in a clash on Monday evening.

At that time, there were chases and shootings between the two groups. The shots fired by the opponent hit Yasin in the chest. He was later rescued by locals and taken to Raipura Upazila Health Complex where the on-duty doctor declared him dead. At least 10 people were injured at the time. Tensions are running high in the area till this report is written.

Raipura Superintendent of Police (SI) Rezaul Karim said, ‘One person was killed in the clash. Soon after the incident, senior police officials including the police inspector (investigation) were at the spot. The situation is now under control.
