Today is Thursday, September 30, National Girl Child Day. This time the theme of the day is "Digital generation. Our generation.". On the occasion of the day, the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs has taken initiative to carry out various programs.

In a patriarchal society, the birth of a girl child is considered undesirable in most cases, the ministry said in a statement. Especially in rural society, the birth of a girl child is taken with annoyance as an additional burden. In this context, the proposal for International Girl Child Day was raised in the UN General Assembly on 17 November 2011.

Then in 2012, the International Day of Girl Child was declared by a UN resolution.

International Children's Week is celebrated from September 29 to October 5 every year. The second day of this children's week, i.e. September 30, is celebrated as the National Girl Child Day.

Meanwhile, many people created confusion on social media by posting about Girl Child Day a few days ago.

But the real thing is - one is Daughter's Day, which is celebrated on the last Sunday in September. As such, September 26 this year was Daughter's Day.

On the other hand, the National Girl Child Day, for which the scheduled day is September 30. Among these, International Children's Week is celebrated from 29th September to 5th October every year. The second day of Children's Week, September 30, is National Girl Child Day.

And International Girl Child Day is October 11. Which is observed by the UN member states all over the world every year. This day is also called the day of girls.
