3 killed in Nawabganj road accident

Three motorcyclists, including the joint convener of the Union 'Chhatra' League, were killed in a road accident at Nawabganj in Dinajpur.

The accident took place in front of Almannagar Bazar of the Upazila on Wednesday midnight.

The deceased have been identified as Rimon Islam, 22, son of Yasin Ali of Narayanpur village and joint convener of Binodnagar Union Chhatra League, Sabbir Hossain, 23, son of Zahidul Islam of Kanchdaha village, and Mohammad Ali of Uttar Shampur village. Rabiaul Islam's son Kibria Islam (30).

According to police and local sources, Rabiul, Rimon, and Sabbir were traveling from Nawabganj Bazar to Kanchdaha Bazar on motorcycles. On reaching the front of the Almannagar market on the way, an unidentified vehicle hit the back of their motorcycle and fled. Three people died on the spot.

After receiving the news, the police went to the spot around 3 pm and recovered the body. As there was no complaint from the family of the deceased, the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the family without any autopsy.

Bulbul Ahmed, a cousin of the deceased Sabbir, said Shahinur Rahman, former president of 'Chhatra' League, along with Sabbir, used to collect money for extracting sand from a leased river in the Kanchdaha area. Like every day, he went to Nawabganj with money yesterday also.

But they had to return as dead. Bulbul confirmed that all three were working with Shahinur Rahman Sabuj, former president of Nawabganj Upazila 'Chhatra' League.

Nawabganj Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Tauhid said that the bodies of the deceased were recovered at 3 pm after receiving the information. Attempts are being made to seize the unidentified vehicle. A UD (unnatural death) case has been filed with the Nawabganj police station in this regard.
