29 killed after boat sinks in Nigeria

At least 29 people have been killed after a boat capsized in the West African country of Nigeria. The death toll rose after a passenger boat sank in the northeastern province of Sokoto.

Local residents and the provincial governor as said in a report on Thursday, April 14th.

The governor of Sokoto province, Aminu Tambuwal, said the boat was carrying 35 people. Most of the riders were women. Divers were able to rescue six people after the accident.

News Official reports that the predominantly Muslim population lives in the northeastern Nigerian state of Sokoto and that the burial of the dead has been completed.
