Today is International Nurses Day

Today is International Nurses Day. The day will be celebrated with due dignity on Wednesday, May 12 worldwide as a day of recognition and respect for nurses who have unique responsibilities in human service.
May 12 marks the 201st birthday of Florence Nightingale, the great woman who founded modern nursing. On the birthday of the majestic woman, the nurses of Bangladesh like other countries of the world will also observe the day with due dignity and respect.
This year the theme of the day is 'Nursing the World to Health'.
At the crossroads of thousands of lives and deaths today, nurses are recognized around the world as a symbol of confidence and a front-line fighter.
Ismat Ara Parveen, acting president of the Bangladesh Nurses Association (BNA), told: Already, more than 3,000 nurses have been infected and 25 have died trying to provide medical care to patients infected with corona. The government has paid compensation of TK. 37 lakh to 18 of them and the process of paying financial compensation to the remaining seven is underway.
She said the government has compiled an incentive list of 13,472 nurses in hospitals across the country. Of them, 2,572 people from 22 hospitals have received incentives. The others are in process.
