Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is monitoring the situation in the country due to rising fuel prices, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.

He made the remarks at a briefing at his residence here on Saturday morning.

Obaidul Quader said the Sheikh Hasina government has always considered the public interest.

The Minister for Road Transport and Bridges said that the meeting of BRTA's fare rescheduling committee would be attended by representatives of transport owners and other stakeholders and positive initiatives and efforts would be made to keep the increased pressure on the people at a tolerable level.

The Minister cautioned that all should be vigilant, including the concerned agencies of the government, so that no one could unjustly increase the prices of goods and transport fares on the pretext of price adjustment.

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader again appealed to the transport owners and labor leaders to call off the transport strike considering the suffering of the people including the candidates, job seekers, and transport of goods.
