'Padma Bridge is open to traffic in June'

The Padma Bridge will be opened to traffic by next June, said Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader.

He said this while addressing a meeting to review the progress of the construction of the Padma Bridge project at the conference room of the bridge department on Sunday.

The Minister said, 'The progress of the actual work of the main bridge of the Padma Bridge project is 97 percent, the actual progress of the river management work is 90.50 percent and the overall progress of the project is 92 percent. The progress of carpeting work of the main bridge is 65.68%. In addition, the progress of gas pipeline installation work is 99 percent, and the progress of 400 KVA power line installation work is 79 percent.

Secretary of the bridge and the executive director of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority Manzur Hossain chaired the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam, Project Director Shafiqul Islam, and senior officials of the bridge department and concerned authorities were also present.
