Court ordered to sent Partha Gopal Banik to jail

Dismissed Inspector General of Prisons (DIG Prisons) Partha Gopal Banik, who was sacked in a case filed under the Corruption and Money Laundering Act, has surrendered to the court. The court later ordered him sent to jail.

On Sunday, September 19, he surrendered to the Dhaka Special Judge's Court-4 and applied for bail, but the judge rejected his bail application and ordered him to be sent to jail.

Earlier, on the 2nd of this month, the High Court canceled the bail granted by the lower court of Partha Gopal Banik. He also ordered him to surrender to the court by September 20.

It may be mentioned that on July 28, 2019, Partha Gopal Banik was interrogated at the ACC's Segunbagicha head office under the leadership of the director of the commission Muhammad Yusuf. On that day, 80 lakh taka were seized from his house. Partha Gopal was arrested. On July 30, the Home Ministry's security services department suspended Partha Gopal from his service by order of the president.
