Formation of new board of PIB

Enamul Haque Chowdhury, editor of The Daily Sun, has become the chairman of the board of directors of Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB).

The information is given in an order issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Thursday, June 24.

In that case, Enamul Haque Chowdhury replaced journalist Abed Khan. The newly formed 15-member board of directors of PIB consists of representatives from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, representatives from the Ministry of Public Administration, representatives from the Finance Department, representatives from the Secondary and Higher Education Department, Chief Information Officer, Chairman of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism (Dhaka University).

Also present as members are Mustafiz Shafiul, acting editor of the daily Samakal, Sharif Shahabuddin, editor-in-chief of Bangladesh Post, and Manjurul Islam, editor-in-chief of DBC News. Treasurer of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Deep Azad, member of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists Sheikh Mamunur Rashid, President of National Press Club Farida Yasmin, current editor of Dainik Desh Nasiruddin Chowdhury.

On the other hand, PIB Director General Zafar Wazed will be the member secretary of the board. The nominated members will hold office for the next two years.

Incidentally, PIB is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Information. PIB deals with training, research and publication on journalism, media and development communication.
