A small plane has crashed in France, killing three people. The accident happened in the northern part of the country on Saturday. It is believed that the plane crashed due to engine failure.

The four-seater Robin HR100 crashed shortly after takeoff, prosecutor Carol Etienne said. It caught fire after it crashed near Wambrechis near the town of Lily.

The cause of the accident is not yet known. The matter is under investigation. Investigators have already arrived.

Etienne said there were three passengers on board at the time of the crash. All three were killed in the crash. The deceased were identified as 29, 53 and 61 years old respectively.
