PM paid homage to portrait of Bangabandhu

On the occasion of the 102nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi-32.

She paid homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu at around 7:30 am on Thursday.

This day will be celebrated through various programs of the golden jubilee of independence of Bangladesh and the year of Mujib. Earlier, the year of Mujib started from Bangabandhu's 100th birthday, which has been extended till March 31.

The day will also be celebrated as National Children's Day.

The architect of independent Bangladesh, the undisputed leader of the Bengali nation was born on this day in 1920 in an aristocratic family of Tungipara in Gopalganj district.

President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have given separate statements on the occasion of the day. The National Implementation Committee and various socio-cultural organizations including Awami League have taken the detailed programs to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The day will also be celebrated with due dignity in Bangladeshi embassies in various countries of the world. The day has been declared a public holiday.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu, the golden jubilee of the independence of Bangladesh, the National Implementation Committee has organized a special program titled 'Fatherland in the heart of Tungipara' to celebrate the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The program includes paying homage to the Father of the Nation at 12.30 pm and a discussion meeting and cultural program at 2.30 pm.
