PM mourns deaths of Jhalakathi launch fire

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the casualties in the fire at "MV Ovijan-10", a passenger launch bound for Barguna from Dhaka.

The Prime Minister, who is currently on a visit to the Maldives, in a condolence message on Friday, December 24 prayed for the forgiveness of the victims and immediate recovery of the injured.

In his condolence message, the Prime Minister conveyed her deepest condolences to the families of the victims.

The fire broke out in the Sugandha river in Jhalokati around 3 am on Thursday. So far, 39 deaths have been reported. It is learned that this number may increase further.

Besides, more than a hundred have been burnt. They are being treated in different hospitals including Dhaka and Barisal.
