PM sought Assistance of ADB in the implementation Delta Plan-2100

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought the assistance of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for the implementation of Delta Plan 2100.

"The Delta Plan is very important for Bangladesh," she said during a meeting with ADB Vice President (Operation 1) Shixin Chen at the official residence Ganabhaban on Monday, May 9th.

In 2018, the government launched the Delta Plan 2100 to secure the future use of the country's water resources and mitigate the effects of climate change and natural disasters. After the meeting, Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told reporters.

Sheikh Hasina sought ADB's assistance in enhancing regional cooperation, especially in the areas of connectivity, trade facilitation and energy cooperation.

At the same time, the Prime Minister sought the participation of senior officials of Bangladesh in the top management and administration of the ADB to facilitate regional balance in the recruitment process.

ADB Vice President (Operation-1) Shixin Chen praised Bangladesh's economic development despite the pandemic under the excellent leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He said Bangladesh has set one of the best examples in dealing with the Corona situation.

Shixin Chen said ADB will always be with Bangladesh and support development in both urban and rural areas of the country. He expressed ADB's interest in assisting Bangladesh in social security programs.

Talking about the progress of Bangladesh from a least developed country to a developing country, he said, "This time is usually critical, but Bangladesh is doing very well."

At the time, among others, Ambassador-at-Large Mohammad Ziauddin, Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister. Ahmed Kaikaus, Economic Relations (ERD) Secretary Fatima Yasmin, ADB Deputy Director General (South Asian Department) Manmohan Prakash and ADB Country Director for Bangladesh Edimon Ginting were present.
