After being closed for two years due to the Corona pandemic, people are celebrating the first Baishakh festival again this year with full enthusiasm.

At 8:15 am on Thursday, artist Sravanti Dhar welcomed the New Year by presenting Raga Ramkeli.

After that, the artists of Chhayanat started arranging Rabindra Sangeet at Ramna Batamul.

Meanwhile, the Mars procession left Dhaka University at 9:20 am.

For the previous two years, Bengali New Year celebrations were organized online for the pandemic.

This year's celebration is going to be a little different because of Ramadan. There is no food stall with panta rice this time.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police DMP has asked the concerned authorities to end the Ramna Mela by 11 am and the concerned authorities by 2 pm. All entrances to the fair will be closed from 1 pm.

Several check posts have also been set up at Ramna Park, Suhrawardy Udyan, TSC, Dhaka University (DU) and some other points in the area. No vehicles will be allowed to move in these areas during the ceremony.

Chayanat was established in 1961 during the Pakistan period to promote and nurture the Bengali culture and music tradition among the people.

The organization has been organizing cultural programs every year on the occasion of Pahela Baishakh at Ramna Batmul since 1967.

Chayanat did not organize any program in 1971 only because of the liberation war of Bangladesh.
