A policeman named MA Latifur Rahman (30) was killed in a motorcycle accident in the capital. The accident took place in the Science-Laboratory area around 10:30 pm on Saturday.

After the accident, Latifur Rahman was rescued in a critical condition and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Latifur Rahman's village home is in Chilmari of Kurigram district. His father's name is Abdur Rahman. At present he used to live with his wife Nazma and a child in Dhania area of ​​Jatrabari.

The matter has been confirmed by Bachchu Mia, in-charge (inspector) of the police camp at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He said an unidentified speeding vehicle hit Latifur Rahman's motorcycle at night and he fell on the road. Pedestrians later rescued him and took him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical. At the end of the initial health examination, the doctor declared him dead.

Bachchu Mia further said that the name and address were found from his ID card. He was on duty at the north gate of the High Court Mazar Mosque of Shahbagh Police Station. The accident happened on the way home after duty.

The body of the slain police officer has been kept in the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He also said that the police of New Market and Shahbagh police station are investigating the matter.
