'Public-Private sector must be affordable'

In all public and private sectors, all matters must be affordable. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed the concerned people not to waste in all sectors starting from electricity and water.


The National Economic Council (NEC) meeting on Tuesday, May 18 approved the annual development program for the financial year 2022-2023 with an expenditure of Tk 2,46,066 crore. Besides, ADP of around Tk 9,130 ​​crore has been approved for autonomous bodies or corporations.

The approval was given at a meeting of the National Economic Council held at the NEC Conference Room and the Cabinet Room of the Secretariat in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar through video conferencing with Ganobhaban, chaired by the Prime Minister and NEC Chairperson Sheikh Hasina. The Prime Minister gave that instruction while approving the ADP.

Highlighting the Prime Minister's directives, the Planning Minister said that another important issue at the NEC meeting was to prevent wastage. It has nothing to fear. People's money must be affordable. Sheikh Hasina has given some instructions to be affordable in the public-private sector. Must be affordable in water and electricity. The Prime Minister has given an executive order regarding the trip. So everything has to be affordable.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister's directives, the minister said, "Everyone has been instructed not to waste. By no means it cannot be wasted. It is not a message of fear. Because resources are limited. There is no point in wasting resources unnecessarily. Not only prevention of waste but also the project for the people and the country must be taken first. Expenditure deficit will be for everyone, no one has endless resources. Important projects must be taken first. The Prime Minister has instructed that no unreasonable excess can be done."
