Quader questioned 'How a foreign national becomes the chairman of BNP?'
Addressing BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader questioned how the convicted fugitive accused Tarique Rahman became the acting chairman of the BNP as a foreign national.
He put the question to the BNP secretary general during a briefing at his office in the secretariat on Sunday, June 5.
Obaidul Quader said, BNP leaders are talking about money laundering, they are singing Shiva's song to pretend to be rice. How much money does a convicted fugitive like Tarique Rahman get if he invests in foreign citizenship? The money invested by Tarique Rahman has been smuggled abroad through money laundering.
Talking about BNP leaders talking about democracy and elections, Quader said, "Which democracy did Ziaur Rahman defend through a yes-no vote?" At that time, Ziaur Rahman illegally declared himself President as the Chief of Army Staff.
The general secretary of the Awami League said people have not forgotten about the Magura election yet. Begum Zia's election on February 15, 1996, without voters, the attempt to hold elections in 2006 with 1 crore 23 lakh fake voters is a democracy? Terrorism during the election by the BNP, occupation of polling stations, public sealing, the killing of opposition leaders and activists, rape, brutal torture of religious minorities, and burning of houses are examples of BNP democracy? The people of the country have not yet forgotten the disgusting precedent set by the BNP in the history of this country.
Obaidul Quader said the people of this country no longer want to walk on the path of so-called democracy taught by the BNP. Those who have tarnished the image of the world champion in corruption five times in a row during their rule and the party which repealed the seven anti-corruption clauses from the party constitution and opened the way for the corrupt to roam are the self-confessed corrupt party, the patrons of corruption.
