It may still rain today

Due to the impact of cyclone 'Yaas', rain and thunderstorms are likely to blow in different parts of the country on Tuesday.

45 to 60 hours per hour from south and south-west over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Bogra, Tangail, Jessore, Kushtia, Faridpur, Madaripur, Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Mymensingh and Sylhet areas till one o'clock today. Rain, thunderstorms and gusts of wind may blow temporarily at a speed of one kilometer. The river ports in these areas have been asked to display warning number 1.

It rained in the capital on Monday evening after a week-long downpour. Along with that, lightning and Kalavaishakhi also flowed. The wind speed was 52 kilometers per hour during Kalbaishakhi which flowed in less than one minute. An hour of continuous rain and wind caused the temperature in the capital to drop by three degrees Celsius in one jump during the night.

Meteorologist Bazlur Rashid of the Meteorological Department said that it will continue to rain for the next few days. Although it will not hit the coast of the country, it will rain in different parts of the country including the capital till May 27.

Meanwhile, cyclone 'Yaas' has intensified and is located in the central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas as a strong cyclone. The sea is rough near the center of the cyclone.

Chattogram, Mongla, Payra seaports and Cox's Bazar have been asked to display remote warning signal number 2.

The meteorological department said the cyclone could intensify and move north-northwest and reach the north-west Bay of Bengal by early Wednesday morning. The maximum sustained wind speed within 64 km of the strong cyclone center is 89 km per hour. It is increasing up to 117 km as a gust or wind.

All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay and the deep sea have been asked to remain in safe shelter until further notice.
