A Bangladeshi student named Nadia Majumder has died in a road accident in Canada.

Police said Nadia was crossing Danforth Avenue near Birchmount Road at about 11:45 p.m. At that moment a minivan pushed her from the left turn and fled.

According to local media CTV News, the injured were admitted to a local hospital where doctors declared her dead. Nadia, 17, was a 12th grader at Birchmount Collegiate School.

The deceased fathers' name is Sumon Majumder. His home is in Sylhet. The news of Nadia's death cast a shadow of mourning over the Bangladeshi community in Toronto.

The body was laid to rest at Richmond Muslim Cemetery after Janazah at the Al-Abedin Mosque and Islamic Research Center in Toronto.
