Germany's Footballer of the Year Robert Lewandowski. Robert Lewandowski, who had a great season for Bayern Munich, has once again been named Germany's Footballer of the Year. The Polish striker received this recognition for the second time in a row.

The star forward has been selected as the best by the votes of the journalists organized by Kicker the Sports magazine.

Lewandowski received 356 out of 563 votes. His teammate Thomas Müller, who is in second place, got only 41 votes.

Lewandowski was the top scorer in the top five leagues in Europe in the 2020-21 season. He played a leading role in Bayern's ninth consecutive Bundesliga title win. He scored 41 goals for the team in the league. Breaks legend Gerd Müller's record of 40 goals in a single Bundesliga league.

Such a performance has brought Lewandowski this honor. He is the first footballer since Michael Ballack in 2003 to be the best in two consecutive seasons.

The 32-year-old expressed his feelings on Bayern's website on Sunday after winning the award.

"It is a source of great pride and joy for me. Because there aren't many cases in Germany, winning the Footballer of the Year award twice in a row."
