Allegations of sexual harassment in remand: Withdrawal OC and investigating officer. These two are the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Wazirpur Police Station Ziaul Ahsan and the investigating officer of the case Inspector (Investigation) Md. Mainul Islam. They have been withdrawn from Barisal District Police Lines.

This information was confirmed by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Barisal Range SM Akhtaruzzaman on Monday.

Judicial Magistrate-3 Judge Mahfuzur Rahman on Friday asked the Barisal Superintendent of Police to investigate allegations of sexual harassment of a woman accused in remand.

According to court sources, the woman was arrested in a murder case on June 28 and taken to Wazirpur police station, after which a female police officer tortured her with a stick. She was later beaten with sticks by other policemen. She was sent to jail and on June 29 she was remanded in police custody for two days.

The woman accused the court that she was not beaten after being remanded on June 29, but was sent to the investigating officer's room the next morning. There she was sexually harassed. Then they called a female police officer and beat her again with a stick.

At one stage, the investigating officer himself beat her for 15 to 20 minutes. She fainted. When she regained consciousness, she found herself in a hospital bed.

However, the investigating officer of the murder case, Mainul Islam, Inspector of Police of Wazirpur Police Station, denied the allegations.
