Fear of misery on Shimulia-Banglabazar route during Eid travel

Staff Correspondent
Fear of heavy suffering is looming at the ferry crossing during the Eid. Because there is less ferry on Shimulia-Banglabazar route throughout the year, therefore it takes a long time to cross the pathway. With such management, it is not possible to handle the traffic pressure several times more on Eid.

Passengers suffering from not getting a ferry at Shimulia Ghat in Munshiganj seems to be a constant companion.

At present only three ferries are crossing the Shimulia-Banglabazar route. The normal speed of those ferries is disturbed by the intensity of the efflux in the Padma. And the queue of cars waiting at the wharf is constantly increasing, with the number of passengers waiting for crossing.

Suffering due to lack of adequate ferries also at the adjacent of Banglabazar in Madaripur. This is likely to increase on Eid.

The BIWTC official claimed that even though the passengers complained about the lack of ferry, they were able to provide adequet service.

The authorities have decided to keep the 24-hour ferry service on this route from April 27 to May 8.

However, the ferry masters were reluctant to run the ferry under the Padma bridge for fear of an accident due to rising water.

Passengers in the southern region demanded the launch of special services on the Shimulia-Banglabazar route to reduce the suffering of people returning home on Eid.
