Two suspected drug dealers have been killed in a shooting in Cancun off the Caribbean coast of Mexico. The incident happened on Thursday. There is panic among the tourists of the country over such incidents on the beach.

Recently another armed attack took place in Rivera Maya. This is happening soon after the country's tourism sector was launched after the Corona pandemic.

As seen in a video spread through social media, many of the tourists were swimming in the swimming pool, some were staying at the hotel again. The attack took place at that time.

The Playa del Carmen and Tulum coastal areas, including the Riviera Maya in Cancun, were considered safer than other places in the country. Now there has also been an increase in violence recently.

Also last month, two tourists, including a blogger, were killed in shootings on both sides of a drug cartel in Mexico. Three others were injured. Two of the dead were Germans and one was an Indian national. The incident took place at a resort in the city of Tulum on the Caribbean coast of Mexico.

In 2017, five people, including three foreigners, were shot dead at a music event in Playa del Carmen. Following the incident, the United States, along with European countries, warned citizens to travel to the world's most attractive beach.

More than 300,000 people have been killed in drug-related violence in Mexico since 2006. However, 8.5 percent of Mexico's GDP comes from the tourism sector.
