Truck lost control and overturned in Sitakunda, 3 killed

Three people were killed when a truck lost control and overturned in a roadside ditch in Chittagong's Sitakunda upazila. Five others were injured in the accident. The accident took place at a signboard in Shitalpur area of ​​the upazila around 8am on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Khaleq, 50, Atiqur Rahman, 27, and Shariful Islam. The injured are Mohsin (23), Sajib (30), Alam (30), Naveen (40) and Babul (35). They were admitted to Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Chittagong Medical Colleg Hospital Police Outpost Shilbrat said a truck carrying rice and passengers lost control and overturned in a roadside ditch in Shitalpur area of ​​Sitakunda upazila on Saturday morning. At that time, the passengers inside the truck were crushed under the rice sack and the truck. A man named Shariful Islam died on the spot. Seven others were injured at the time.

Later, Kumira Fire Service personnel rescued them and took them to Chittagong Medical Colleg Hospital. Doctors declared Atiqur Rahman and Abdul Khaleq dead. The bodies have been kept in Chittagong Medical Colleg Hospital morgue.

Meanwhile, doctors said that the condition of Mohsin and Alam was critical.
