soldiers surrender in Mariupol
Russia claims 1,026 Ukrainian soldiers have set out their arms in the assaulted city of Mariupol.

The southern port has been enduring an onslaught for quite a long time and is accepted to be near falling into Russian hands.

The group, from 36th Marine Brigade, was said to have surrendered near the Ilyich Iron and Steelworks.

Ukrainian defense ministry spokesperson Oleksandr Motuzyanyk has said he has no information as yet on the reports.

Earlier in the week, Mariupol's deputy mayor labeled as "fake" a Facebook post attributed to the same brigade which claimed troops were running out of ammunition and lacking support.
