South Korean President Moon Jae-in has banned the consumption of dog meat. This information was confirmed in a statement on Monday.

Eating dog meat is part of the South Korean tradition. But recently the trend of the dog-cat rear has increased in the country. For this reason, the pressure from animal rights activists to ban the eating of dog meat was increasing. Such a decision has been taken considering these issues.

According to the data, the country still consumes an average of 1 million dog meat a year. Although animal protection laws in South Korea currently prohibit the slaughter of dogs and cats, eating the meat of these animals was not prohibited. This time the meat was banned by extending the scope of the ban.
