A young man has been stabbed to death in Brahmanbaria's Nabinagar Upazila. The young man was stabbed for questioning the girl's issue.

The incident took place at the Ahmedpur Government Primary School ground in the remote Laurfatepur Union of the Upazila on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Rafi Bhuiyan, 19, son of Niyamul Bhuiyan of Ahmedpur village. The accused Pradeep (20) is the son of Swapan Miah of the same village.

Additional Superintendent of Police Sirajul Islam of Nabinagar Circle said, “His accomplices Shimul (20) and Rafi (21) along with local stalkers Pradeep used to harass a girl in the village. Last evening 4-5 people including Rafi Bhuiyan called Pradeep and brought him to Ahmedpur Government Primary School ground for questioning. At one point in the conversation, when Pradeep wanted to leave, Rafi stopped him.

At that time, Pradeep hit Rafi in the middle of the chest with a knife and fled.

He further said, 'Locals immediately rescued Rafi and went to Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex. The doctor on duty at the hospital declared him dead.

Upon receiving the news, Nabinagar police went to the spot and at present additional police are deployed at the spot, the official said.
