Pat Cummins has done a great job in his first match as captain. Apart from winning the first Test of the Ashes against Australia, he was also brilliant with the ball. But, he got big bad news in the second match. Aussie captain Cummins dropped out of the second Test at the last minute.

Cummins was dining at a restaurant in Adelaide with another professional cricketer on the eve of the game when someone at an adjoining table was identified as a positive case.

Cummins hurried out of the restaurant after knowing of the incident. He warned the authorities about this. He was later sent to seven-day isolation and removed from the second Test. Michael Neser, who is awaiting his debut, has joined the team instead of Cummins.

England and Australia have already met in a day and night match in Adelaide. Steven Smith is leading Australia as there is no regular captain in the match.

Gutted to miss this Test but really excited to see Neser finally get his chance in the baggy green. He has done the hard yards and is a seriously skillful player. Super frustrating but COVID has thrown us all some curveballs over the last couple of years. Will be cheering along!

Cummins wrote in a tweet after the dropout, "It feels bad to miss this Test, but it's good for Ness. Eventually, he got a chance to play in Baggy Green. He has worked hard to get here and he is a very capable player. It's really annoying, Covid has done us a lot of damage in the last few years. We will support the team at the same time."
