Students clash with Bus workers-traders, injured 5

Students clash
Kushtia Islamic University (IU) has witnessed clashes between students and bus workers and businessmen. The incident of the chase-counter chase is going on with brick-throwing. Five people were injured in the clash at Sheikhpara Bazar near the gate of the university campus.

Meanwhile, traders and bus workers of Sheikhpara Bazar blocked the Kushtia-Jhenaidah highway for about an hour and a half in protest of the attack. Later the police came and calm down the situation.

Police and some students told about the clash that took place around 10 pm on Thursday night. At one stage, the students were pushed off the bus before reaching their destination. The passengers of the bus informed the residential students of the campus about the matter over phone.

They are waiting for the bus in front of the university gate.

Upon knowing the location of the students, the bus driver dropped off all the passengers before the Sheikhpara market. At this time the students went to Sheikhpara market to look for the bus. At one point, the bus driver's assistant was found in a shop and beaten.

When a shopkeeper came forward to handle the situation, the students also beat him.

Later, the students started chasing and throwing brickbats with the bus workers and traders. The students claimed that some of their classmates were injured. The students returned to campus after the incident.

Upon receiving the news, University police and Shailkupa police calmed down both the parties and brought the situation under control.

University Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman said, "The Kushtia-Jhenaidah road was blocked from 10 pm to 11:30 pm. Now the situation is normal.
