15 people injured in a clash in Sunamganj

It has been alleged that 15 people were injured, including four in clashes and gunfights between supporters of the two sides over dominance in Dirai upazila of Sunamganj. The incident took place at Pukidahar village in Jagdal union of the upazila on Monday, February 16 in the evening.

The four were identified as Tahud Islam (18), Abdul Haq (42), Nahid (20) and Ehiya Khan (65). When they were taken to Dirai Upazila Health Complex, the doctor transferred them to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. The injured are being treated at Dirai Upazila Health Complex.

Police said Arju Khan and Firoz Miah of Pukidahar village in Jagdal Union had been at loggerheads for a long time over dominance. Due to this, there has been tension between the supporters of the two parties since Monday, February 16 in the afternoon. Later in the evening it turned into clashes and gun battles. A total of 15 people were injured, including four from both sides.

Upon receiving the news, the police of Dirai police station went and calmed down the situation. Meanwhile, police have been deployed in the area. However, no one has been arrested yet.

Dirai police officer in charge (OC) Ashraful Islam said some people were injured in clashes and shootings between the two sides over the spread of domination. police have been sent to the area. Currently the situation is calm.
